The Lucy Story
Jade Brittany (@jadebrittanyblog) and one of our valued customers, Katrina, have reached out to us for help with supporting a local Vancouver family who is trying to raise money to save their daughter's life.
We've been touched by the story of Lucy, who was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and requires an experimental treatment to save her life. Her family is raising $3 million in order to fund her treatment, and advance the approval process for the treatment so that other lives like Lucy's can be saved as well.
Free Car Wash Fundraiser
We've decided that the best way we can help Lucy is to give away FREE car washes!
Here's the details:
- Date: This Sunday, July 19 from 10am - 5pm
- Location: Splashes, #103-3050 King George Blvd, Surrey
- Event: We will be giving away free basic touchless car washes ($12 value), and collecting donations for Lucy. We can accept cash, debit, and credit card. 100% of donations after Square processing fees will go to the Life for Lucy GoFundMe.
- Food: Tacofino will be on-site from 12pm-4pm (Ocean Park Ford has agreed to let us use their lot). They will also be donating back a portion of their proceeds to the family.
- COVID precautions: We are taking every precaution to make this a safe event for our staff and the public. The staff interacting with customers/taking donations at the car wash will be wearing masks and gloves and we have tap card payment options available. We are creating a QR code for people to scan which will take them to a website to learn more about Lucy and our event (to limit sharing materials). Once through the wash, customers can park their cars at Ocean Park Ford and there will be line management systems in place for Tacofino - along with their own stringent safety protocols. Customers will be encouraged to take their food home or eat in their parked cars to limit people on-site.
