March 2021 Community Wash Partner
Welcome back, everyone! We are happy to announce that our March Community Wash Partner is:
Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary
Kindred Community Farm Sanctuary (formerly SALI’s Farm), is a forever home to misunderstood and misfit farm animals – with many of the animals being unwanted, hard to adopt out, or at-risk of slaughter. By taking these animals in and treating them with kindness, they then become therapy animals for their school and community programs.
UPDATE: Our donation total for Kindred was $1883

About KINDRED COMMUNITY FARM SANCTUARY
Starting out in 2008 as SALI’s Farm, the organization was able to obtain Canadian Charitable Status in 2009. With roughly 60 volunteers to aid them, the organization has been able to help three different at-risk populations in Surrey White Rock, & Langley.
Through the use of animal-assisted intervention, horticultural therapeutic activities, and nature-assisted activities, they are able to work with
- At-risk children who have experienced any sort of trauma,
- Front-line health care workers who are currently dealing with trauma from working through the Covid-19 health crisis
- First responders and firefighters
And more!
Their programs range from public awareness and education, to mental health therapy for those facing difficult times. The intent of these programs is to remain open and flexible to the needs of those in our community.
They are now currently in their 2nd temporary location, but are in need of help with a move to their next PERMANENT home!
From our side, we had the pleasure of speaking with the Founder & Director, Keryn Denroche. She was kind enough to let us tour the farm, so that we could see what the organization was about.
With various animals from Horses, to roosters, to cows, and more, we definitely had a great time touring around.
Keryn had mentioned to us that her organization receives very little in terms of government grants. Most of their success comes from the volunteers and doners. Our donation to them will be towards developing their next healing program that helps teachers who have been navigating through teaching during the pandemic.
Wrapping Up
It’s officially been ONE YEAR since the inception of our Community Wash Program. We’ve raised a whopping $14780, which was all donated to charities and causes in our community! We appreciate all of the help from everyone who has donated, and we hope to keep this program running strong for the foreseeable future!
Until then, stay tuned for more updates on our CWP program!
