Should I Get a Winter-Proof Service?

With the Winter Season upon us, it’s important to start looking into providing additional protection for your vehicle.

Not only is it crucial for maintaining the aesthetics and paint of the vehicle, but is also important for the car’s overall condition.

If you’re on the fence on whether you should invest on looking into additional protection for your vehicle, keep reading below on why we strongly recommend it!

“My area only gets slush and rain”

anyone who's lived in vancouver, b.c.

Well, even with a minimal amount of snow, the roads in your area are most likely being prepared in anticipation for the worst. This means two words:

Road Conditions.

In the upcoming months we are almost certainly going to see an up-tick in road salt being distributed on the roads of the Lower Mainland.

While road salt is an important factor in safe winter driving, it is also very corrosive and can cause extensive damage to your vehicle over time. Add this to the unavoidable road rash that can cause scratches and marks towards your car’s paint and body, and your car is in for a rough winter.

What Can I Do?

Fortunately, there are several precautions you can take to ensure your vehicle is well prepared for the upcoming conditions.

Many of our customers typically do one complete detail with added protection options before the winter season:

  • Claybar, Wash, and Paint Sealant.
    • The Claybar and Wash remove the contaminants sitting on your vehicle's paint, with the Paint Sealant being applied afterwards. The Paint Sealant works as a barrier between the elements and your paint, and typically lasts a few months before re-application is needed.
  • Interior protection for Fabric & Leather care.
    • Snow, slush, debris, and the occasional Christmas sugar cookie crumb trail don't stand a chance in a well protected vehicle interior.
  • Undercarriage Spray.
    • If your vehicle is going to be driving through the salt, and parking outdoors during the winter season, this is definitely a must-have.

Apart from a quick wash to remove salt and debris, our customers usually find that they don’t need to do too much for their vehicle until the spring time.

Paint Sealant

Paint Sealant is an important step in preserving your vehicle’s exterior paint, and protects your vehicle from oxidation, loss of gloss, and fading of paint. We’ll prep your vehicle with a good handwash and clay bar before applying the paint sealant. As a result, you’ll have a clean, shiny, and well-protected paint job for the Winter.

Interior Protection (Fabric, Vinyl, Leather)

Unexpected mishaps from spilled coffee to a child’s snacks are, in most cases, inevitable. At Splashes, we are able to protect Fabric, Leather, and Vinyl interiors.

Undercoating & Rust Proofing

Keep the condition of your vehicle’s underbody protected from the salt, snow, and rough conditions ahead. If you are going to be driving & parking outside, it’s recommended to undercoat and rust proof your vehicle.

We recommend re-applying these services at the start of the next winter season.
